Application Requirements for Material Grant
When funds are available, the Parish Section of the Cincinnati Chapter of the
Catholic Library Association (GCCCLA) will contribute the equivalent of $1,000
in material (books, videos, audios), to a Parish in the Archdiocese of
Cincinnati, Ohio, the Dioceses of Covington, and Lexington, Kentucky, which will
open, re-open, or enhance an existing Parish Library/media center. These
materials will be selected by the recipient from GCCCLA's Parish Library
Resource and will be made available by the this Parish Section. Said materials
will be donated providing the GCCCLA is satisfied that the intent of the Parish
is to make Scripture and Tradition of the teachings of the Magisterium of the
Roman Catholic Church freely accessible.
If requested , the Parish & Community Libraries' Section will assist
recipient parishes on a continuing basis.
PROCESS for APPLICATION
Submission of a letter on parish letterhead signed by Pastor and Applicant, to
President of GCCCLA with a copy sent to the Parish Section Chairman, specifying:
1. If this is a new, re -renewed, or existing parish library.
2. Who will be maintaining the library and membership in the GCCCLA.
3. Who will be responsible for expenditures.
CRITERIA FOR APPROVAL
1. A core collection that imparts or will impart the central teachings of the
Roman Catholic Church.
2. Available funds to continue operation of the Library and membership in GCCCLA.
3. Reasonable accessibility of the library to the public (potential borrowers).
4. The name of the acting librarian (other than the pastor) who is and will
continue to be an active personal member of GCCCLA.
5. Willingness to share what is learned with other parishes through the GCCCLA.
DISBURSEMENT
1. The deadline for applications shall be April 15. Applications shall be
reviewed by Parish & Community Libraries Section Committee which will
recommend approval or disapproval to the Executive Board of the GCCCLA prior to
the Spring Meeting.
2. Presentation of the award(s) shall be made at that time by the Section
Chairman. Actual distribution shall be made after that meeting.
3. Applications shall be reviewed on a first come first served basis. If funds
are not available for the current year, applications will be carried over to the
following year.
